Drakensberg Mountains
The Drakensberg (Dragon's Mountains) are the highest mountains in South Africa, rising over 3,000 meters and vast, spanning several provinces and crossing over into Lesotho. I was only able to go up into the mountains on a day trip, into the Amphitheater section in the Northern Drakensberg. The hike was to Sentinel Peak and the Tugela Falls, one of the highest waterfalls in the world, but rain and clouds caused the falls and much of the view from the top to be obscured. Eventually, when we hiking back to our starting point, the clouds cleared and some decent views appeared. I'd definitely like to go back and spend more time in these mountains if I get the chance.
